i paint for emotional connection that relates to what i want to convey about what i am painting when i feel that then it’s a matter of intuition and without concern for anything but getting there for lack of a better example not painting too much knowing when to stop painting.
my work is not truly figuration for me its symbols and not just children but the fact that children unlike adults are powerless and dependent and usually suffer the most from what i refer to as “man’s supreme ability to be ignorant” throughout history. for me the Holocaust was the first to inspire work and then the great depression, also the ghettos of the bronx and the lower east side in ny, these are only a few. children also still have a mind of wonder and for me the symbolism of children brings less baggage and opens the viewer to feel the emotion of what i am trying to paint.
