Tony Hernandez began painting and drawing when he was seven years old. Although encouraged to pursue his talent by art teachers, Hernandez decided to study architecture, a more acceptable career path according to his family. While studying architecture, he realized that he was more interested in building structures than designing them. In 1988, after working in construction for three years, he decided to turn his dream of being an artist into a reality. For Hernandez, “Having the time to paint and to think and conceptualize about what I wanted to paint had become vital.” He has been a professional painter for over 30 years.
